Nestled between its elegant West London neighbours Notting Hill and Kensington High Street, Holland Park seamlessly blends bustling city life with calm tranquillity. Holland Park’s elegant homes are bound by the park and the streets of the same name. Known for its illustrious residents, Robbie Williams, Tamara Ecclestone and Elizabeth Murdoch to name a few, its beautiful park and history, Holland Park provides residents with a fantastic balance of greenery and city amenities.
The famous Holland park covers about 22 hectares, with the northern half containing woodland that has been designed to look wild and forest-like. The central section contains more formal gardens, with statues and the much-loved Kyoto gardens (donated by the Chamber of Commerce of Kyoto), providing locals with koi carp. It also is home to the fragmentary ruins of Holland House, the Jacobean mansion owned by the 6th Earl of Ilchester until it was bought by the London Council in 1952. It was badly bombed in the second world-war and now provides a unique backdrop for the Holland Park open-air opera in the summer. The southern section is used for sporting activities, especially for children in the school holidays. The Belvedere Cafe is enjoyed by dog walkers, parents and picnickers alike and children love the giant chess board hidden behind the orangery.
Large Edwardian and Victorian townhouses border the southern section of the park, namely Ilchester Place, known for its palatial homes and expensive price tag. Towards the north-east side of the park lies the new Holland Park Villas development: exquisite townhouses with off-street parking and polished interiors. The large white buildings of Holland Park Road are characterfully synonymous of the area. Many provide spacious flats, while others are large scale family homes.
There are plenty of shops and restaurants to enjoy around Holland Park. From independent butchers Lidgate’s to the well-loved deli Jeroboam’s, the area is home to many unique shops and wine merchants. Book lovers can enjoy perusing the spoils of Daunt Books or grab a coffee at Speck.
Transport is great too with plenty of bus routes and Holland Park tube station itself, being located on the Central Line it gets you into Oxford Circus in under 10 minutes.
If you’re looking to buy or rent in the Holland Park area, we would be more than happy to help you.
