There’s something for everyone in Balham, from the Babychino guzzlers to the Bloody Mary lovers. The park provides the perfect setting for picnicking, there are buzzing bars and restaurants galore along the high street as well as all the amenities any parent would want. There are plenty of local clubs to get involved in, which work on local projects and provide a friendly, neighbourhood feel to the area. Originally the area was a small hamlet, surrounded by farmland and small, country cottages. The railway, which rolled into the area in 1856, changed all that. With it the railway brought new jobs as well as an industrial boom, making the area the ideal spot for railway workers housing. When the Northern line was built into Balham and Clapham South, another housing boom occurred. This time, the houses were more distinctive and were built in the Arts and Crafts style. These are now the fabric of the area and the properties available range from Edwardian homes converted to flats, Victorian houses as well as larger homes.

Transport is accessible from Balham, with its own station on the Northern Line as well as being close to other stations like Clapham South. Trains from Balham get you into Victoria in 18 minutes and can take you further afield to Epsom and Caterham. Getting to Bank takes just 20 minutes from Balham, making it a popular place for young, City professionals. The area is also well connected by buses into central London.
